Steps to Remove Wallpaper

  1. Decide on a method. You can either steam or soak the wallpaper off the wall.
  2. If you choose to steam the wallpaper off, use a wallpaper steamer to heat the wallpaper and loosen the adhesive. Be sure to wear protective gloves and eyewear.
  3. If you choose to soak the wallpaper off, mix a solution of warm water and fabric softener in a bucket. Use a sponge to apply the solution to the wallpaper. Let the solution soak into the wallpaper for 10 to 15 minutes.
  4. After the wallpaper has been steamed or soaked, use a putty knife or scraper to remove the wallpaper from the wall. Start at the top of the wall and work your way down. Gently scrape the wallpaper away from the wall, taking care not to damage the drywall underneath.
  5. Once the wallpaper has been removed, use a damp cloth to wipe down the wall and remove any remaining adhesive. Let the wall dry completely before applying a new coat of paint or new wallpaper.

With the right approach and the right tools, you can get wallpaper off the wall quickly and easily. Remember to take your time and work slowly to ensure that the wall is not damaged in the process.
